As I have written countless times, I’m not a big fan of New Year’s Resolutions.

I believe in making small changes all year long, which I have written about here and in my book, and have talked about in many presentations.

I recently read an article in Fast Company called, “Want to Make Big Changes in 2026?” that is almost precisely my philosophy on this subject. I was going to write up some highlights from the piece, but simply by searching for the article again, I was given a summary, which is do deeply aligned with my approach that it could have been a summary of my blog posts and speeches.

I hope you find this helpful as you work to make changes that stick in 2026 and beyond…

  • Start small: Instead of aiming for a huge leap, break your goal into the smallest possible action you can do daily.
  • Consistency over intensity: Progress comes from repetition, not from one-off bursts of effort.
  • Low resistance: Make changes so easy they feel almost too simple — this helps you stick with them.
  • Celebrate micro-wins: Recognizing small successes keeps motivation alive.
  • Trust the compounding effect: Over weeks and months, these small steps add up to big results.

All my best regards for a happy and healthy 2026!

David
