Here are some things on my gratitude list this week:

That my son taught in the amazing Breakthrough program this summer.

That he invited us to their Celebration (where it was wonderful and inspirational to see our future leaders — these terrific students and teachers.)

That he now knows what career he wants to pursue, what excites him, invigorates him, energizes him.

Spending time with my friend Randy, and his friends, to celebrate his 50th (and in particular the super, wonderful, meaningful conversations I had with the people I sat next to.)

My 44-year friendship with Randy.

That we were able to help my son move into his new apartment for the coming college term, including cleaning the kitchen to the extent that it no longer smells like there is a dead animal hidden somewhere in it.

And, that in spending days cleaning and setting up the apartment, we saw that fun can easily come in the least expected ways.

Gratitude is a well-established happiness strategy, one that is well worth doing on a daily basis. Short of that, try doing it at least weekly, starting today.
